S&T Day at the Capitol

Missouri S&T was chartered on Feb. 24, 1870, as the Missouri School of Mines and Metallurgy. One hundred fifty years later, S&T celebrated its founding with an event on Feb. 25, 2020, at the Missouri State Capitol in Jefferson City.

The day began with a presentation of colors, formal reading of the “S&T Day” proclamation and remarks from university leaders and special guests. Following the ceremony, attendees participated in hands-on activities with Makerspace students, biological sciences professor Dave Westenberg and students from the American Nuclear Society. Guests also toured the 150th traveling museum, archival display tables and signed an enlarged version of the proclamation.
